President's Award in Teaching
Prof. HU Bambi

Head / Chair Professor

Department of Physics
Faculty of Science

Prof. Hu is a well-known theoretical physicist in nonlinear science. As a prolific researcher of high calibre, he has established an impressive scholarship record, including over 175 papers published in internationally renowned journals. Indeed, his outstanding records could only partly convey how much he is respected within the physicist community, as it is also reflected in his ability to attract top physicists, including Nobel Laureates, to become honorary degree recipients or to serve on the Physics Department's International Advisory Committee, celebrated physicists to visit his Department, and promising young physicists to join as faculty members or members of his research team in the University. Not only is he a dedicated researcher, Prof. Hu is also committed to building up a rigorous and vibrant research culture within the University. Under his able leadership, the Department of Physics has received high rankings in the last two Research Assessment Exercises and excellent results in the Hong Kong Research Grants Council awards. Prof. Hu is currently Director of the Centre for Nonlinear Studies. He has been appointed adjunct professor at Shandong University, Shandong Normal University, Beijing Normal University, Yangzhou University, and Hunan University. He is also a member of the Academic Committee at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
