Always aspired to render fine service to the Department, Faculty and the University, Dr. Shiu is highly recognized as a proactive and reliable colleague. He has provided much-needed support to the Head of Department and assistance to colleagues in taking up numerous administrative responsibilities, such as supervising and managing the technician team of the Department, coordinating the annual reporting of the departmental research-related data, and providing his fine service in a number of departmental committees. Particularly, his outstanding service in library related matters, both as the Library Coordinator within the Department and as a member of the Academic Senate Library Committee and the Committee's Working Group, has won Dr. Shiu the appreciation of his peers within the Department, and compliments from colleagues in the University. Dr. Shiu's willingness to accept responsibilities, and his readiness to offer his service on top of his heavy teaching and scholarly duties set a good role model for his younger colleagues.
