A committed staff member, Dr. Wong works hard in various capacities to strengthen the Geography Department in teaching and research. Besides serving as the Associate Head of the Department, Dr. Wong actively coordinates the major field works for students and organizes a variety of activities to enhance the teacher-student relations. In addition, he helps organize a number of public forums and seminars in the areas of environmental protection and education for the Department. Dr. Wong participates enthusiastically in professional service. His service in the Hong Kong Geographical Association is particularly noteworthy. Under his leadership, the Association has organized the Hong Kong Geography Day and a number of panel discussions on sustainable development in Hong Kong. With a high level of recognition in the field of environmental protection, Dr. Wong is frequently invited to give public lectures and expert advice on relevant issues. His effort has substantially raised the Department's profile not only in an academic setting but also in the wider community.
