Dr. MacKenzie is known to his students as a highly effective and popular teacher, who takes teaching very seriously and who knows his students' abilities well. His students enjoy his lessons and benefit from the literature they share in class. Dr. MacKenzie's enthusiasm towards improving teaching quality has made him successful in obtaining three Teaching Development Grants so far. Though primarily a literature teacher, Dr. MacKenzie has the flexibility to take up a great variety of undergraduate subjects at any levels due to his wide range of interests.

Dr. MacKenzie also receives President's Award for Outstanding Performance in Scholarly Work.
