Dr. Man's scholarly work is quite wide-ranging. She is a writer and critic of good standing in the local community, and has maintained that status in the publication of her books and articles in the press as well as her participation in the local cultural scene. She is known for her efforts to bring serious scholarship in philosophy, aesthetics and cultural studies to bear on local events and thus enriching the public's appreciation and sharpening judgement. Her work in this area is very important and due recognition should be given. She is also a recognised authority on aesthetics and gender studies. Her recent book on the work of Hong Kong women artists is a significant contribution to gender studies as well as aesthetics. Her recent articles published in academic journals in U.S., PRC China and Eastern Europe have introduced some common agendas in Chinese philosophy and feminist philosophy.
