A prolific researcher, Prof. Kara Chan has developed a programmatic and strategic research agenda with a major theme of focus, and produced an impressive collection of books, book chapters, journal articles and conference papers. Her work on advertising and children is internationally recognized. Her book Advertising to Children in China was considered epoch-making in the study of children as consumers in China, making a crucial contribution to the advertising field. Prof. Chan has been successful in obtaining more than HK$1.5 million of research grants and consultancy projects for her research work. In addition to her achievement in academic research, Prof. Chan has also won high regard from her peers for her active participation in academic exchanges as well as her instrumental role in organizing international conferences and symposia. She is keen to integrate research with classroom teaching and learning. Prof. Chan is also a pioneer in exploring new research methods including drawing studies and videography.
