Prof. Li Si-ming has maintained an active and outstanding research profile over his 26-year career at the University. He has established a distinguished reputation in the area of China urban housing research, with regular publication in top-quality international journals in urban studies and the housing field. He made strenuous effort in building the Department of Geography at Hong Kong Baptist University as a major centre of geographical research in Hong Kong during his tenure as head of department, and was instrumental in the founding of the Centre for China Urban and Regional Studies in 2001, which has since become a major platform of exchange for scholars working in China Urban and Regional research from around the world. With his solid standing and credentials, Prof. Li was appointed as referee of numerous CERG proposals as well as research proposals submitted to the National Science Foundation of the United States. His expertise also landed him on various roles in academic and professional communities. Prof. Li's recent promotion to Chair Professor in Geography, the highest academic rank, is a proven recognition of his distinctive academic achievement.
